Head of News and Current Affairs
Mr. Mihály Hardy is currently the Head of News and Current Affairs at Klubrádió, Budapest, Hungary, a talk and news radio station that was forced off the air on 14th February 2021 by the present government of Viktor Orbán and his Media Council. Klubrádió survives at present on the internet (www.klubradio.hu) thanks to the donations and support of its audience. Mr. Hardy earlier used to work both in corporate communications (Communication Director of Budapest Airport for 12 years and communication director of retail chain TESCO in Hungary for 2 years) and in television journalism. A journalist by education (Institute of International Relations in MOSCOW - MGIMO) he has always worked in news and foreign affairs, as news editor and Moscow correspondent (1985-1991) of public service MTV station, from 1997 to 2000 as news director of commercial TV3, Head of News at commercial TV called ATV (2002-2005). In his foreign reports he covered topics like the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, siege of the Lithuanian Parliament in Vilnius by Soviet troops, Tienanmen Square crackdown in Beijing, withdrawal of Vietnamese troops from Cambodia, several US-Soviet summits in Geneva, Reykjavik, Malta and Moscow. Mr. Hardy has been working also for the journalist community of Hungary being the spokesperson and Vice-Chairman of the Hungarian Association of Journalists (MÚOSZ) in the early 1990s. after the fall of Communism in Hungary. Mr. Hardy speaks fluent English, Russian and Spanish.
